Some stuff isn’t stackable in game. Very few things are.

When there was five different types of storage. Before Wicker Picker. Before Birchbark Backpack. Before Tool Belt...

I do love me some noob bases filled with crates filled with sticks and apple cores and worms. Make hafen great again. Nerf storage.

A single stick should take up more than one inventory space and call it a branch. I imagine them as large and unwieldy. It would explain why rubbing two of them together never makes fire. You just can't maneuver something that size properly.

You only need a stick the size of your finger to make a fire. Length is more about how much of a stroke you can put into it. It's a little easier with a foot long than four inches, but you can get by.
