Haven on Linux, openJDK, external USB drive

Postby iamahh » Fri Jan 08, 2021 2:26 pm

I was expecting something crazy, but default client it's working great on Linux Mint 19 (?) running from a USB external drive

I just changed video driver to 390 in Mint settings, and everything else worked, default OpenJDK and all

also removed shadows and limited FPS to be safe

so in theory you can carry all your Haven needs in a USB drive, and plug into some available computer, even though it will probably need some adjustments and luck

Neat.

Yep I'm using linux too. Each time I redownload the client I have to go into the properties of the file and allow it to be run as executable, but after that no tinkering needed.

I disable wifi and use ethernet cable

I tried wifi on windows the other day, it was better than expected, seemed ok for daily chores

You could try using a bash script (with "run as executable" property) to start the related hnh startup jar. That should eliminate/bypass the need for that "run as executable" on a newly downloaded hnh startup jar file.

Well, I use Linux exclusively, so it would be kinda strange if the default client didn't work on it.

Well the only issue i have in linux is mouse delay (somewhat fixed in new clients) and no audio when using alsa only. Even tho minecraft with openal is working fine. Do Hafen uses JOAL or something? I had no luck with enabling sound with openalrc and asoundrc-like configs.
