#1) If you believe 90% of what you read about the conflict, it's all misinformation. I just watch videos and that's it. Only time will reveal the truth.

#2) I'm starting back in HnH just to kill Russians I stumble across. Cykas

That's the thing. Filtering propaganda. Especially war propaganda.

I said here a year ago that Ukraine can't win the war, but it's still possible to not lose the war. Like Finland 1940. Finland was defeated in the Winter War, but the defeat was negotiated - it was not an "unconditional surrender," as happened to Japan and Germany 1945. And after 1945, Finland remained Finland (they lost portions of the Karelian Isthmus.)

Whatever happens in the next six months is probably endgame as far as Russia winning - or in the case of Ukraine ... not losing is concerned. Here's the worst thing that could happen; everything east of the Dnieper ends up under permanent Russian control. I think the Tsar Purin wants it only to let it rust into ruin. A wasteland to compliment Chernobyl.

I'd not blame young Russians for any of this nonsense - as if a conscripted 18 year old is responsible for anything.

If 1939 Finland had received comparable degree of foreign support to what Ukraine now receives, Soviets would've had even worse time. Finland made heavy concession mostly because ammunition was running out. You could almost consider 1940 peace of Moscow a successful bluff - had the Soviets kept pushing for a month or two, Finland probably would've militarily collapsed.

Yeah. Everything was used up and Finnish troops were physically and emotionally exhausted - Mannerheim knew it was time to negotiate an end to the war.

The supposed Ukrainian drone smashing into the Kremlin? And Tsar Putin calling it an act of terrorism? I wonder who it was that flew that drone into the Kremlin.

If I were dictator of the world tomorrow, I'd propose the following to my counselors and advisors:

1. Prosecute Putin and his political agents for the invasion of Georgia (2008), Ukraine (2014) and Ukraine (2022).
2. Prosecute Bush and his political handlers for the invasion of Afghanistan (2001) and Iraq (2003).
3. Mass decriminalization of substance/solicitation crimes.
4. Worldwide 1% wealth tax on all assets held by individuals over $1 billion.
5. Worldwide 100% wealth tax on all politician's assets (or any assets held in trust for a Politician) over $1.5 million, adjusted for inflation.
6. Worldwide 100% gift tax for any contributions or gifts made to a former politician, to be paid for by the former politician, excepting only those benefits provided by the Government to the poor.
7. Liberate Hong Kong and allow it self-rule.
8. Permanently dissolve all trade with North Korea and isolate it from the world unless and until there is regime change.
9. Set aside 1% GDP of all nations to address poverty in the poorest 1% of geographic areas.
10. Dissolve my dictatorship.

Robben may have considered his post just a thought experiment. (What would I do if I somehow had absolute power in a way that nobody could depose me.)

If it has any degree of seriousness, he should watch this video:

That was a fun video. But yes, I harbor no illusions against the factors that tend to weigh against decisions that would affect the greatest net gains, because small groups of individuals exist that tend to elicit greater influence than the average person over policy decisions.

As the video suggests, I'm sure I would be deposed and killed pretty quickly if I, as world dictator, tried to enact the above policies.

I seem to recall you being some sort of alt-right type. If you were worldwide dictator, what are ten policies would you choose to enact?
