Assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

There has been no indications the devs will wipe soon.

Yeah, as previous said, start now is good for learning for next worlds and now is a good moment because is the "sea in calm" period of the server, less players, less raiders, asleep factions. Everytime you do some progress in the game, further and further every wipe, you will not only learn new stuff about the game but also experience what you've learned previously or just from read it, wich in the future if you stay will be helpful for you to have more fun
Be nice, the woods are aware of you.

W3 and 4 Hermitage
W5 Emberwood and Kirribilli, PANDEMONIUM
W6 MIRROR LAKE
W7 Tkearns village
W10 F&I
W12 BROLAND, Weasel's Blue Boar Inn, Grimmhold retirement
W13 Monke Spanish plot
W14 Kakariko village Druid
W15 Into the deep woods

Where are you Weasel!?!?

your chance of getting harrassed as a new player is very low at this point, much higher at start of world

once you figure out how to put a claim down and get a palisade up you basically cant be touched so its nothing like rust in that regard

You could have a stress-free practice run for the new world.

Back when I started, I really should've stuck with my w6 character to learn basics, in w7 I was taken in with friendly group and I learned a lot but they had to let me go for being a newbie.
The most actively maintained Haven and Hearth Wiki (Not guaranteed to be up-to-date with all w14 changes.)

Basic Claim Safety (And what you’re doing wrong) (I recommend you read it in it's entirety, but TL:;DR: Build a Palisade.)

Combat Guide (Overview, PVE, PVP) (Tells you how to try and escape, and make it less likely to die when caught.)
