Our new Terms of Service will go into effect on May 15, 2023. We will be focused on removing old, unused, and inactive content that is not tied to a user account from our platform as well as nudity, pornography, & sexually explicit content. You will need to download/save any images that you wish to save if they no longer adhere to these Terms. Most notably, this would include explicit/pornographic content.

I know a lot of images posted to this forum are hosted on Imgur, so be sure to save anything you need because a lot will have been uploaded without an account. And judging by the history of earlier image hosts, chances are Imgur does not survive the transition and the rest will soon follow.

I typically paste an image on discord and copy the link unless I'm interested in keeping it a long time

I'm also doing that (in combination of using a dummy server that's just my personal note taking app) simply because it's so convenient and leaves old images decently archived in case I need to re-use.

Photobucket, Imgur, Discord, pic8.co all have the same root issue where server costs are a running fee and venture capital/other investments will only get you so far to provide a free service.

This won't be possible starting in 2024: discord as a filehost will no longer be possible by the end of the year:
if you haven’t noticed, copying a link for a file now appends special parameters to the end. these are a request signature, which indicates a specific request for that file. this request will expires after a few hours, so files will no longer be permanently available through a specific url.

while they are not currently necessary to view the file, they will be by the end of the year, assuming nothing changes.
