Bot lookout

Postby Uriel » Wed Jan 10, 2024 11:04 am

I love that this game is giving us options to do what we like, but c'mon, every few maps bots reporting players to someone? How is that ok? There should be some limits. I remember w4 when world was canclead and LP system changed because of bot uprasing, why is this difrent?

What is the issue? Is it something us hermits should be aware of for safety?

let's assume that bot lookout is placed in safe pali near thingwall (and fact that You can build things near thingwall is sick and wrong) or in any other place, then it reports players to someone, that person can easly then come to that location to kill You.

We were killing those alts and they were too scared to come fight our pvp group, only target are hermits. As a hermit not much you can do about it

Fight fire with fire

Make an alt and a macro to walk in and out of the bots viewing distance repeatedly. For more fun add in some random pausing or a logout/ login section. You can do this with 0 programming experience with your choice of 'free' macro recorders. At some point they will be tired of their bots crying wolf and retire them, maybe.

This mater should not be about fighting them by players but fighting this with game mechanics by devs - like no constructions x minimaps by thingwalls, random spawns of aggresive animals why idle for to long (midges, mosquitos etc.).
C’mom people… this things really shouldn’t be allowed, this game that we all love and hate should not look like bot fest in this scale.

Bots and custom clients are both, in the philosophical fundamental of things, only means of generating server input, and as long as the server input they generate is technically legal, there is very little about it that stands out as being obvious and easy targets for anything resembling a "ban". Bots and custom clients are, in short, hard to impossible to meaningfully detect, and the means of detection can usually be circumvented.

To my knowledge w4 was reset because of a dupe bug.

Using bots to track players is pretty bad, however.
