A Troll joke from devs?

Observing many dead villages that have managed to penetrate the 8th cave level a strange pattern emerges.

A lot of them have a characteristic 'cave-in' clusters of boulders close to the minehole ladder. Characteristic of trolls.
A few had even live trolls still wandering. Even I, myself managed to spawn one, after mining not that many tiles around.

Is there a pattern here or am I just imagining things?

If you mange to reach level 8, but still have problem with trolls - you doing something wrong at this game.

What do you mean by pattern? Pretty sure the lower you go the more troll nodes there are so you're more likely to see them, they don't despawn they have to be killed. I'm going to assume the boulders are from a player going up the ladder and the troll doing the cave in attack since it can't reach them, no idea if that's true though. Also deeper you are the harder they are so you're more likely to actually see trolls people couldn't kill/didn't want to try to kill.
