sometimes the mine falls on top of your head and you lose SHP. Since it doesn't do HHP I wouldn't care that much until I find metals

Some of those stones are probably ore, do you know the names? You can check by making a pile with them, and if it's red it's an ore. Heavy dirt is an ore. You have to smelt then to get metal.

But how much SHP damage does it deal? Can you still get hit multiple times by the same cave-in?

It used to be that cave-ins could kill you if you got unlucky. Especially with the current wound system (i.e. everybody being low on HHP) the amount of damage is pretty relevant.

It deals a few hundred SHP dmg, you can get hit multiple times, it does not kill you. You can however become trapped and forced to hearth home.

So far i've found an absurdly large amount of different types of rock... no ore.

The useful rocks I have found however are:Feldspar, flint, and limestone.

Cave walls occasionally give fossels and cat gold. (curios)

So you don't get a situation in which falling debris takes out all of your SHP, then more falling debris takes out your HHP (due to having 0 SHP) and kills you?

No it only ever does SHP damage. I ended up getting hit 4 ish times in a single cave in, was still fine. Now that might be a bug... so beware of patches.

What about mine supports, it seems they are similar to that supports that were in old h&h, 8-9 tiles safe mining radius.
To craft MS you need 16 blocks of wood, and one bar ( :( )!) of any metal.

Due to how long it takes to get coal now, I have yet to actually get any metal. Despite having found 4 ore nodes.... blooming tar pit needs to hurry itself up. As such I cannot comment on mine supports.

How's flint more useful than other stones at the moment? I've found it too.

That's more of a guess than anything. It seems to grow in small clusters unlike other rocks (schist, gniess, sandstone) and makes me feel that it's relatively rare. Perhapes it has a use with lighting fires that I have yet to find?
