Shooting from a boat

Ive been trying to shoot stuff from a boat with moderate succes,

Allthough i have killed a fox and a boar from it, a lot of my arrows seem to disappear into the water without even showing a trajectory

Has anyone else ran into this?

I thought the boat itself acted as a hitbox, eating most of your arrows as a result.

I was afraid of something like that, especially after hearing of the horse archer's issues.
