Bushes replant prereq

Postby LaserSaysPew » Tue Sep 15, 2015 12:44 pm

Are there any? I replanted 35 bushes closer to my base with at least 1 tile between each of them. It's been more than a week and not even a single fruit/hop/etc.

Decay hits are really bloody unreliable sources of anything. And with a bigger world, might be less hits per tile to reduce server load.

Plus the decay can only hit when that tile is loaded, so if you spend hours offline or on a different part of the map decay will never hit. Tiles seem to unload fairly quickly, like maybe 15 minutes with no one there.

It's about that. We recommend 20 if you're intentionally waiting for something to despawn or the map to change because of server latency. On rare occasions it can take a bit longer.

Ehm... 20 what?
They will regrow only if I am around all the time? Well, the bushes are close to my base, they are always on the map.

So what you're saying guys if I make a stockpile somewhere in the forest and then leave. It will stay there forever and will never decay since decay hits need tile to be loaded. Right?

I'm not sure about when decay is processed while the map is loaded, we only know that it is processed every time the map loads from storage into the active processes. It obviously does process while the map stays loaded, at least in the past. It was most obvious when plowing fields.

I'll note that decay is granular--it hits a specific integrals of the tile, not the entire tile (I believe loftar stated that each tile is 11x11 integrals). From experience, mulberry trees are extremely slow to regrow items--had one tree over a month before it got new mulberries--whereas firs were extremely fast, about once a week or so. What's the difference? Size of their hitbox. A fir has a hitbox slightly larger than a tile, a mulberry tree takes up only about a quarter of a tile.

Pretty much makes berry bushes useless in that case lol.
