Building Problem?

I see other built objects and materials, so I know that it is possible to create things in the game, I've been playing for a few years, I'm not exactly new to the world of Haven, or Hafen, whatever people want to call it. But for some reason, I can't build anything, for example... I can put a wicker basket down, but I cannot seem to place any branches into it to build it. I have shift-clicked, left clicked and right clicked. Is there something I am missing? All I do is click the little red play button below "Haven & Hearth" on this website, should I be using a client?
I'm confused. Looking for some help.
I'm not sure if I am the only one who is experiencing these problems, or if I am just not knowledgeable about control changes?
Here's another weird thing, I cannot add/extend to fences but I can make stock-piles no problem by dragging the desired stock object and right-clicking it into the UI.

Just have items in your inventory and click build instead of trying to put them in like you use too.

Just click build. You no longer place items in the construction sign, rather they are built directly into the object from your inventory and nearby stockpiles.
