I do not and should have said so, my apologies. That statement applies to legacy. That said, I can't see why they would have changed it.

I have a spruce tree that's a week old and is now the height of a wall which is less than one tile from the wall. However, I have a mulberry planted on dirt in an active walkway that is the same age and has only progressed a single stage in that time.

I have no idea why the mulberry is so hilariously slow, but walls definitely aren't causing my spruce any issues.

Weird. It would be nice if jorb or loftar could advise us :(

I remember in legacy mulberries were a nightmare too because they were really small, dunno if thats just whats happening here?

If mulberries take a long time, given they have limited leaves now, I really don't want to make hq silk... I'd rather build a wagon and go get enough q10 leaves from the wilderness!

Trees can get stunted randomly, but not from stepping on them.

Wow, that was quick - thanks!
Stunted randomly or stunted from objects nearby, randomly?

Given how slowly they grow, it seems hard to tell if they have been stunted or not.

permanently stunted or temporarily slowed? from what, random decay hits? does hitbox/spacing matter at all anymore?

I'm guessing permanently considering my mulberry tree advanced one stage in a day, and hasn't changed since in 6 days following.

Permanently. Random chance on plant. Spacing does not matter.

OK, great!

Edit: I was thinking this sucks, because in the default client its hard to tell if any single tree you have planted is stunted, given how slowly they grow, but if you plant enough I guess its possible to tell...
