Launching the game

Hi i saw this game on youtube about a year or so ago and finally decided to download it. I made my account and downloaded the launcher. The problem is that i cant seem to launch the download. I currently have windows 10 and i just re downloaded java but whenever i click to launch autohaven a small window pops up saying "how do you want to open this file" and i cant seem to do anything. Please help as soon as possible as i'd like to try out this game.

Uninstall windows.
install linux distribution of your choice
Install something like http://icedtea.wildebeest.org/download/ to launch the .jnlp file.
And now you can play Haven and hearth.

First off, drop the Windows crap. That's not what this forum is for. (The problem is not all systems have good drivers to run Linux well. You still need to be selective about what hardware you buy for a Linux system.) People run Windows because it's convenient and they don't want to jump through hoops to access things. Maybe one day Linux devs will realize this and we can all move into data crunching Utopia. (I doubt it because Linux devs like having minute control over their things.)

Second, I highly recommend not passing around .pdf files. They're as bad as Word .doc files when it comes to sources of malware. Even "safe" sites like blackboard.com can get unknown things posted.

You don't have to uninstall Windows to check out the alternate clients players have put up.

I recommend Amber's personally. The reason why I never use the default client is because it never runs on my slow connection, it just closes with errors.

Sounds like your java isn't installed correctly.
Please see the bug report howto (link in my signature) for a link to the 64 bit Java offline installer, prior to installing it remove all installed Java (old control panel, programs and settings) and reboot.
Should the error persist you'll need to set .jnlp files to always be opened with javaw.exe (located in the directory you installed Java into).
