How do i cook this darn meat?

I caught some chickens today and I wanted to cook their meat but I can't figure out how. I have a fire but clicking on it does nothing.

I'm guessing you're having the same problem many people have when they first try to roast meat, and that's forgetting to "open" the fire.

First right click the fire, and select the "open" option. Then simply Craft > Cooking > Roast.

There is no such thing as cook in crafting menu. No matter how am i opening the fireplace or using or not using a cooking roast, i can not get myelf to cook the berry pack, which must require a fireplace to kook. i can not find the way to kook it, this post is not helpful. i dont even know how to find a chicken to roast it. i am trying to get over with one of the most basic quest: Something to Eat & Drink. I have fiddled with this around for hours. please help.

You may not know the cooking skill yet. Open your character sheet and select skills and lore pane. You need to have acquired the Hunting skill to roast meat. Do you have that?

Place berry/fruit roast into Fireplace like this.
Light the Fire and wait for the second bar to increase.
Second bar is red and while it lasts, items placed there will cook.
If orange bar goes out but there is red bar (indicated graphically by embers left inside the Fireplace model) simply put new fuel and right-click to re-light fire instead of needing firebrand/other source.
