How can I find out how many bars of metal are needed for a tool? I just throw bars in the mold until it does not accept anymore?

Destroying cast before timer is up returns the bar to you.

I don't see nyone mentioning it, or maybe I haven't checked far enough but for cast forging the quality formula is:

Final Quality = (Qcast + AvgQmetal*3)/4

No idea if there is soft/hard capping from some attribute/skill
