Unarmed vs melee

Postby rizecek » Tue Oct 25, 2022 2:47 pm

Dear players,
I've read various posts on unarmed vs melee, but it is still not clear to me. Is it possible to reasonably use melee without having spent a lot of points into unarmed as well? I understand that it is possible to do it the other way - i.e. to boost unarmed and have 10 points in melee. However, I would like to try something new in this World - i.e. boost melee and forget about unarmed. I would be more than happy to know your opinion.

I haven't checked, can people give out studies of the initial combat moves this world? cause if you have a buddy willing to do that for a basic melee move-set, the answer is if you have a friend/alt for it, yes. If not- getting the first melee moves is going to be rough without any training in unarmed.

Personally I've noticed a much higher likelihood of getting ua moves early on this world. I had several lvl5 ua moves before I got a single barrage or sideswipe.

As far as feasibility of mc without ua I would say pretty unlikely. At the very least you need some ua to raise green opening if you want to sting or yellow for uppercut/sideswipe/full circle. And I think every mc build would utilize op knocks, which is a ua move. I don't pvp, but I always do a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio of ua to mc

Edit: maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems success with mc at higher levels is determined more by attributes ( agi/ cons/ to a lesser degree str) than by stats. The difference between 700 mc and 1000 is going to be negligible, but at a high lp cost

Usually you need to get at least 20 UA or 10 marksman to be able to get your first MC moves (for average players that is)

People forget you can use slings to get combat cards. But ultimately you'll need to get some at least some points in another skill to get your cards.
