Take someone's base

Postby TheRealWeeb » Tue May 28, 2024 10:46 pm

Hey guys, I came a cross a decayed base not too far from mine and all their shit is way better than mine. It's pretty clear they quit so I've decided to take over their base. My plan is to destroy the decaying claim and put my own in it's place but I have a few questions

1. Will I be able to build my claim covering their hearth fires
2. Will I be able to destroy their hearth fires once I've built my claim
3. What will happen if they logged out in the base and log back in after I've claimed it? I feel like they can grief me this way

I would suggest focusing your efforts on building up your own base legitimately, perhaps by gathering more resources or expanding your existing structures. There may also be opportunities to trade or negotiate with the previous owners of the base you discovered if they are willing to part with it

This is near the end of this worlds lifecycle. The remaining players are merely logging in to keep their claims active.

You can find tons of abandoned bases that you can take over to skip most of the early-mid game progression.

Yeah building from scratch is way more rewarding. Also, you can take their stuff pretty much anywhere.
There is also the risk of being griefed, especially if the reason why they quit was due to a siege.

It is also the perfect time for hermits to go all out and try to beat the wipe timer. I personally find it much more peaceful.
I started day 1 with a bunch of friends from last world, but we got a lot of company during the first weeks. Didn't bother to play much through that, although I do regret missing out on the days that actually mattered.
