leeches and treated wounds

If I treat a wound (e.g. with willow weep), leeches won't also apply leech burn to take away a chunk of that wound, will they? Last time I tried, I got the impression that I couldn't double dip on healing. But maybe somebody has had this work? Leeches have a fairly low % so maybe I just got some bad RNG.
