Arguably the fix would be to disallow mining on a horse overall but then people would leave it too close and it'd still get aggrod, and if you let people not get instantly bonked with a horse near a troll they will try using it to fight it and because of how trolls are with near bounding boxes it will cave in so ehhh.

I mean... They could just not be aggressive towards anythingl during the initial 30 second animation.

Alternative, since its always been so buggy and I don't believe it will ever be fixed IMO troll's anti-cheese mechanic should be to rapidly heal instead of throw boulders when they can't path to the target. I have a video somewhere of Garen getting almost killed by a troll this world when there was N O T H I N G anywhere near either Garen or the troll. Just decided fuck you, time to die if you get unlucky. I'll edit it in if I can find it.

100% happened to me a few days ago, straight tunnel between the troll and I, NOTHING in the tunnel. Trolls just aren't exactly safe to play with...

Yeah tbh, oh no my shitty path finding algorithm detected i can' get to you even though there is a straight line of vision between us, fuck you. We had people get KO'd bcs we made troll arenas too small (we hunted with bow back then) since then it's either rowboat cheese or a HUGE arena with very big turning points so it cannot possibly get blocked.

I feel like some of the caveins I've seen were so egregiously open it actually can't be a pathfinding issue. It has to be like a race condition or some dumb shit where the pathfinder just doesn't resolve in time.

Well if you get yours back I'm going to file a grievance for the character I lost in world 14 for the same reason.


A troll spawns in a 3x3 area if there's unlined area around it, you don't need wait for it to load resources for a reason to run

It's really fascinating that there are custom clients with pathfinding tools that are capable of maneuvering around objects in the way and yet the pathfinding made by the devs is still incapable of that

You go into a shallow lake, preferably a big-ish one. Yes it has to be shallow so troll can go in. You swim on a rowboat which is faster than the troll and you don't need to drink, so you swim around in circles and you slowly hit the troll to raise its openings and swimming away from its range (weapons have higher range than the troll so you should be able to hit it without even getting hit back if you time it VERY WELL),but you can lower your openings in case you do get hit using dash to remove ANY openings (it hits like a truck even on low openings). A troll will not do damage to you with 0 openings because of how the game works, so you can just swim around until you manage to open it high enough (using opportunity knocks to speed it along), and then you cleave it. Repeat until the troll is dead. If you crash/fuck up it might get ugly, but it's a lot simpler than actually fighting a troll.
