Is Blood Stern more common in certain biomes? The wiki says its found in "forest", which includes a big number of biomes. However, I've been looking in Pinebarren and Lichenwold a bunch the last couple days and I've found none.

I believe so. I personally find them often in Sour Timbre, Sombre Bramble, and Deep Tangle.

There would certainly be a logic to this. Pinebarren and Lichenwold are both evergreen/conifer biomes, while the latter four are deciduous/broadleaf biomes.

SO I have a quest to mine sandstone and have five levels in my mine and haven't found any! Where is this stuff?!?!?!

Right click the magnifying glass icon in the map window to highlight sandstone.
You have probably found it already.

It's gotta be from a wall in a mine. Does that only show up on level one? Tries from stones an pillars.

Don't think so. You can also try mountain patches at top level -- Dig with pickaxe.
(not sure about other rocky terrains, just try them if you have some nearby.)

I think the stone types are complete RNG and you're just unlucky. You could try making a mine in L1 below area that has sandstone boulders, though. Possibly stone patch with sandstone would also indicate that L1 below it has it.

Also, you can spam https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Rustroot_Extract to show what's on exactly under where your character is standing.
