When building a brick wall, is placement directly next to wooden palisade possible or do I have to put a gap between?

No gap is needed but you should take into account that you won't be able to reach it to fix from the inside in dire situations.

You can have an alt kick the wall down if they do that. Fresh extensions have no initial soak.

In legacy you sprinted at them to seal. the hit boxes in hafen seem like that's no longer possible.

It takes an alt a considerably longer amount of time to break down a palisade than a battering ram, giving the raider a much easier time defending their ram. Granted, since palisades don't have a drying time before being able to extend them it doesn't make nearly as big of a differences as before.
