Red handed / Outlaw debuff

Postby proknah » Fri Oct 09, 2015 2:48 pm

1. What's the duration of level 2 debuff (Outlaw)?
2. What happens to my weekly playtime hours when I'm offline but my character is online?
3. What happens to my energy bar?

When you're stuck in the game, it's just your character persisting. You aren't logged in and don't take penalties for being logged in. Just merely AFKing (or stuck persisting due to crime debuffs) doesn't drain energy unless something is explicitly draining it, and then you aren't supposed to die from starvation if you don't have an active connection. You also shouldn't use up any play time if I understand correctly (believe one of the devs stated that positively, but I'd have to dig it up).

Yeah, it shouldn't drain play time, but I've heard a few people complain it has. Best bet would be to make sure you log off cleanly through the game menu's instead of hitting the big X in the top right.

Most definitely this. One of our vets died to starvation a couple weeks back because he just closed the client instead of doing a clean logout. Instead of properly logging him out, thus stopping starving damage (until logged in again), he took damage causing the character keep persisting until dying because the server didn't get the "hey, i'm quitting" message for some reason.

You can log out through the options menu (button in bottom right corner next above the menu or ctrl+o) or using the console command ":lo". (Console commands aren't entered into chat. Press the colon ':' key to open the command console.) It used to be that if a connection persisted, Java wouldn't exit completely and you could go into Task Manager and kill the process for the same effect. I just got in the habit of doing a clean logout long ago, so haven't really checked in a while.

Funny you should mention that.
One of my village mates died this way to starvation.
This is the reason I have an outlaw debuff now. I had to take his stuff back to his place (didn't know you can just pick geared corpse up and TP to your village slaughterhouse or something without leaving any scents).

Also:
You can't logout through Ctrl+O menu. It says "You cannot logout right now".
Console command works.

Ouch. Deaths always suck, and trying to help out by doing corpse and possession retrieval is dangerous work as it is always theft, even if you are buddy-buddy.

And thanks for that. I don't recall if that is a new thing with the new world or if it was always like that.

I'd say about than 48h, since I have one of my characters alone in a cellar looking at a wall since 2days ago, when I had to destroy a claim put up by some troll player. The outlaw icon is only halfway finished.

How many levels are there? Im currently in what i assume is lvl 3 "Red Handed", and i cant log off or fast travel to hearth fire, after it goes down, does it turn to lvl 2 "Outlaw" then whatever lvl 1 is? Or does it go away completely? Also can you not fast travel when you have "Outlaw" on or can you just not log off?
Total misplay.

The length of the outlaw debuff depends on what scent you left, theft < vandalism < murder. Yes with Outlaw you can fast travel, but not log your character out.

Can you list each time? Also does outlaw come after red handed is gone? And what is after outlaw? How long is that? UGH! Must know!
