Combat discoveries?

Postby _Gunnar » Wed Oct 28, 2015 5:55 pm

What is known about these?

Does your deck matter?
Does relative UA matter?
Does the type of animal matter?
Does equipment matter?

Are there any statements from the devs about how this works? Obviously making it hard to game makes it more difficult to raise alts, but when they come out with a new move it is not a good feeling to kill 50 animals as slowly as possible and get nothing :p

Im quite sure type of animal matters. Lots of moves i got from ants but when i moved to bigger animals i started getting lots more moves.

OK - wondering if it works like fate & experience, like you have a particular move for different animals that you have to do, and then you get the discovery? I have not got one for a long time now, fighting all types of animal, but I will try with ua decks i suppose :(

Equipment definetly matters, but I'm not sure in to what extent. When I started using a sword and shield I got "Parry" and "Shield Up", but I also got many more copies of cards I already had compared to when I was using purely UA.

Thats interesting - but it could also be because you added chop to your deck I suppose..
I got shield up and parry pretty quickly after they were released, but still trying for Cleave. Perhaps I need to equip a b12 :p

No, I was using the exact same deck. I had been using chop with metal axe previously. Actually decent until you have any sword.

I'm fighting bats every day, and I have not seen the 'Combat Discovery' move for a very long time..
Still missing some skills.. :(

I have found that animals definitely effect what skills you get and I have found that bats give you hardly any of the moves you want. Ants seem to give majority of the skills you would want. Although I reckon with some of these bigger skills such as cleave, might be given from larger animals? Not sure.

but animals definitely matter, I'm pretty sure of it.

Animals matter but its not as simple as new animal = new moves. bears have given me jack shit IIRC.

imo there is a whole bunch of probability stuff going on, who knows what stupid stuff is input, character stats/fate etc. I get that they shouldn't reveal exactly how it works but the system just isn't fun currently. because you don't know if your actually giving yourself a chance to get what you want or not, and grinding with uncertainty is worse than even the worst korean grinder.
