Transporting Ore Back to the Smelter

Postby uncleseano » Tue Nov 03, 2015 1:54 pm

What's the best way to do this? At the start I was just filling my inventory with ore then TPing. Now I carry a crate along and TP with that over my head.

Is the wheelbarrow the best bet now? You can load a stockpile (70 is it?) and then wheel that back to base?

Easiest way is to construct smelters next to your mining place

Build a road to your cave, build a road inside the cave to your ore spot(keep in mind that you can move with ctrl while extending road).
Grab a cupboard, teleport to your ore spot, grab ore, teleport to hearthfire.

Yeah I should really looking roads and that, I'm just so lazy. So I basically build the milestone at the destination or some such..I dunno

EDIT: Yup, can't make heads nor tails of what I supposed to do with road-signs milestones etc

Only use roadsigns for this purpose. Make one by your smelters and then right click it to extend it a step. They have a limited range, so you may need many steps to reach a given destination.

You must absolutely keep in mind that when walking the road, the next point you will walk to (indicated when extending) is actually reachable from the last roadsign's point. Use ctrl-shift-mousewheel to rotate smoothly.
Come back two hours earlier.

So the road-sign just sort of auto walks you there and the milestone teleports you there?

The primary roadsign and milestone (the first one you build and create a trail with) both teleport you to the last sign you have built along that trail. If you are waylaid (teleport blocked by something/someone) on the path you get a Waylaid buff. While Waylaid you can continue to teleport from any of the secondary signs.

The difference between the roadsign and milestone, besides the obvious one being wood and the other stone, is that the roadsign can only have one trail associated with it, while the milestone can have up to 4 trails.

I think a lot of issues that people have with signs is that they try to create a clear path between the physical signs, when the path is actually where the bouncing arrow is.

So you have to clear any bushes/trees/logs and make sure that it goes around cliffs/water etc? I only want a two and from trip road, so I'll start building this road sign.

EDIT: I'm a bit confused, do I have to click to travel on each and every sign post?

No, you click travel on the roadsign and it will teleport you to the end (or near an obstacle).
When unsure: test early, test often.

Yeah I think I figured it out, have myself fast traveling now. Woot. Really should've done this A LOT sooner. Gotta chop down a tree or two, worries. Plus it goes across shallows which is nice
