how to request: village

Postby Thedrah » Fri Mar 04, 2016 3:51 pm

can someone explain how, what, and why of villages? as a hermit that has never been in a village and the wiki isn't helping that much. now that you need a village to claim resources, it would be helpful. after building a village and a day of science, i have taken note of some

-what purpose are banners/statues? statue seemed to only increase the authority cap, 36000. does the statue matter about quality or a diminishing gain? no cloth yet for a banner
-what rate does authority drop? does banners/statues affect it much? -seems authority to drain 284/285 every 22m roughly. statue did not seem to increase drain but the statue was built quickly after to attempt to increase the size of ground covered
-is the banner the only way to increase the land under control?
-what are the skills for the members of the village? i read that it requires 25cha for lawspeaker to gain access to all his skills
-what increases authority? it seems for me with 44int 17cha i get 2.12/2.75 depending if you count the 30% from sub. learning new skills in combat gives lp, this also added to the authority
-can someone be lawspeaker of multiple villages? can a village establish an outpost? if i want to try to claim additional resources, do i have to extend village control through banners only and does that have to be above ground? could i tunnel a banner line to a resource then pop a banner above ground?
-any tips or suggestions?

-Banner/statue expands the village claim. EDIT: THIS HAS BEEN CHANGED FOR SOME REASON DON'T WASTE YOUR METAL FOR STATUES
-Charisma requirement is legacy
-int/cha seem to modify authority gain from lp
-You can only be member of one village at a time, so no

does it take time for the statue/banner to expand the claim? and if so how long?
i have 17cha but can't make my alt into the chief?

for anyone reading it looks like the body, hat/base, cape of the statue in that order for first, second, and tertiary stone

statue doesn't expand territory, only banner does that. the statue only expands the village's authority, as the wiki says.

banners can claim underground land for your village, if they're built directly under village-claimed land.

chieftains and stuff no longer exist, you can assign people to colours with separate privileges just like your kin list.

so only the lawspeaker role?

what about the equipment specifically for the hird and stuff?

and that really sucks only banners increase the village claim size

yeah, but it's better this way because you can assign whatever roles you want, to multiple people at once. the equipment can be worn by anyone (even lawspeaker's hat and robes).

thanks for the details on statue appearance by the way.^^

so only reason for statue is authority?
only reason for high authority is charter stone then? or maybe holidays but the drain seems to be negligible at 20000 a day (12days away from hnh?)

i guess statue is left for RP then :/

Well at least to me wiki didn't say that (Statue page was edited by me.) We just wasted 5 decent quality tin bars making statue. I don't recall ever reading patch note which has said Statues no longer expand claims. My friend swears he recalls expanding village claim with Statue in w8.

yeah, i wasted decent q tin on it aswell. it only disappoints me that i'll have to wait until i get obscene amounts of fiber to extend the claim
20cloth=100flax fibers. maybe in a week or so i'll be able to build one

wish they were cheaper lol

it's been this way since hafen.

http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=555719#p555719

not sure what the point of it is.

btw why would the wiki say what something doesn't do?:p but i guess it's useful for people who are used to the old system.
