Easy way to light a fire?

Postby csgirl504 » Wed Jun 22, 2016 1:51 am

Is there an easier way to light things besides firebrand? I'm lighting 4 ovens and using a firebrand for each one is awful.

Build firepit, light firepit with firebrand, light torch from firepit, light ovens with torch.

Yeah, further more if you are using the amber client, just go to UI settings and make sure that the extension menu isn't hidden, then that'll give you access to a few helpful shortcuts you can bind to the Fbelt (If you have that enabled), that way you can just hit f1 or what not while standing near an oven, and it'll light it for you.

If you need to lit multiple objects, it's recommendable that you use these only to lit fireplace or torch and use torch to lit the ovens/smelters/kilns you need to lit.

It's actually a bit easier to light the torch with the firebrand, then use the torch to light everything else that needs lighting. Just my personal experience.

If ''everything else that needs lighting'' is includes firepit, then sure, this is accomplish same things.
If it does not include this firepit, firepit advantage is that it can run for many hours, so you can relight this torch from it for entire play session. Result is to only need to make this firebrand once per day play session.

Well, yes..
What I was saying was just switching the order you had listed the process..instead of lighting the fire-pit with the firebrand and then lighting the torch from the pit, light the torch first then light the pit and then you can light your ovens and what-not with the torch..

If for some reason you can't or don't want to make a torch another option might be to build your ovens (or smelters) positioned so that you have a fire place in between them and after you get the fireplace lit you can create firebrands by lighting branches and using those.

You would need to position your structures kind of like this so you can light a branch at the fire and still be able to move towards an oven/smelter/whatever without your path being obstructed:

X = Oven
O = Fire pit

X      X
X  O  X
X      X
