Efficient cupboard placement

Postby thirty7even » Fri Sep 16, 2016 6:59 pm

Fresh hearthlings like myself struggle with stogare space early in the game. Here is my approach to this problem: 26 cupboards in timber house.

Those in the corners can be opened if you open one of the adjacent ones first. You can open multiple cupboards at the same time.
Cupboards are tiny bit smaller than a grid size so by dropping them with Ctrl+click you can save up some extra space for moving around and also allow for that 26th cupboard next to the door to be placed.

I'm hoping someone will find it useful.

Soon. Until then, this works just fine.

PS I did mention that this is more useful when you have limited resources/space.

If you're so limited in resources - live in mine - there is no decay and you can place all the cupboards you need

Sir, although you're making a good point, this went way too off topic. I am showing my emergency floor layout and I don't see how this has anything to do with living in a cave.

It is true tho, you never need to worry about storage space if you start off in a cave and you did say you were struggling with storage early game so it's not really that off topic to suggest alternatives. :)

Nice floor plan however, I'm sure it will help someone, there have been threads before with optimum cupboard layouts.
Living like that would drive me insane! I need space ... yay for towers! :D

I don't want to say the OP is useless at all, just pointed on the possible alternatives.

I respect the effort, but actually I think I would build another timber house instead of getting pis*ed off every time I need to get to the cupboard in the corner. I really prefer fast accessibility instead of nice development of space in houses if you know what I mean.

Does anyone have optimal layouts for bigger houses and cellars?

I do like that layouts where you can open 8 cupboards at once and craft using items in all of them. Just need to be careful ofc =)

Our crafting stations include 6cb in rows with quern, meat grinder etc in the middle.
Seems to be easy enough setup.
