Wouldn't say knowing that catapults existing is expert level catapult knowledge, but the fact he know's they're a thing (or assumes that they are) is kind of weird.

Hey, do try digging for some clay next to that claim, someone might have claimed it because it is a good quality node for clay. If you have good survival, try digging some clay around it and see if the quality is good.

You would need criminal acts to use a catapult and you would also need to buy vandalism and siegecraft, so your best bet atm is just to walk around it, :)
It is annoying though when players do that but at least the claim doesn't stretch far over the land.
