real new and confused

Postby jpublic » Sat Nov 12, 2016 8:33 pm

hello all

I hardly talk on forums as I usually don't have much of to say. But I would like some help.

Is there a guide for the new combat system. I am not understanding a lot about it, to be honest I didn't really understand the older one either.

If there is a current guide that explains the ins and outs of the new combat system, would somebody please direct me to this so I may read and understand?

thankyou

i'll try to resume it here

when you start combat, you will start with no openings, and 8 moves, numbered from 1-5 and shift+1-5, those move are selected in the character screen> school tab.

there are 4 category of moves: Attacks, restorations, stance and moves

*Attacks: basically have 2 functions, raise openings in your oponents and deal damage based on your attributes and the openings in your oponents

openings are basically how effective your attacks will be against your oponent, if your attack deals 100 damage, and your opponent have a 10% opening, you will deal 10 damage to them

attacks and openings are color coded in 4 colors, green, red, yellow, blue. Each attack and opening works with their respective color

*Restoration: these are moves designed to reduce the openings you have, if you have 50% green opening, using feinted dodge, for example would reduce the green opening by a certain amount

like the attacks, these also are color coded in green, red, yellow and blue

*Stances: these are passive move that usually determine the stregh of your block and what is used to calculate them, some also have special function, like raising certain opening when you are attacked, or reducing cooldown

*Move: no fucking clue tbh

Basically when you start a fight, you want to attack your oponent and raise their openings with attacks while keeping yours under control with restortation moves.

Some attacks use Initiative points, wich you can gain with certain attacks and restorations, aswell as some stances, these are generally very powerful, but needs a bit of setup

there is no bar, you will take damage if the weight of the opponent attack multiplied by the % of the matching opening is higer than your block blockweight and armor

Any combat system that requires more than basic math to understand is borked imo

Don't play EVE, D&D, any warhammer game... well, anything that requires strategy. I'll admit this does require a bit more than simple math, but it doesn't require a college degree.

It's not like you have to use mathz to use the system. You only need it in order to predict every detail of it down to the last point of damage that will be made by a particular attack. There is no such thing as a game mechanic that does not involve math.
