Crabs

"Crab Caressed" is unhealable except by ancient windthrow roots, right?

Are there any better ways to cut the chances of getting wounded than Poor Man's Gloves?

Currently, not that I know of. They don't work to the greatest of effects..but it's something..

Getting untreatable Crab Caressed is a sure way of getting Infected Sore.
Poor man's gloves and plate gauntlets lower the chance of getting the wound but they aren't reliable (as the chance is still about 25%)

Well. I know how this character's going to die, then. Guess I should make an alt.

im sorry, but why even bother? is there a way to get crabs above q10? is there actually something useful you can do with crabs? everything ive seen that can be crafted from them is garbage.

I've gotten crabs around q25. The claws are decent curios for early game and the crab shell can be made into a chitin helmet which is OK armor for early game and can also be made into the chitin sequins which, again, for early game, can be good guild. It goes for Cooking, Carpentry and Stealth.

hrm, i'm only using the crab stuff for when-i'm-desperate food stuff, bone alternatives for constructions that require bones and don't need to worry about quality and well... that's it, you can get better curios from chicken feathers, and better guilding stuff from squirrels and hedgehogs- early game isn't about the stealth, cooking, and carpentry, it's more about getting you're forageables right away which a forager's brooch can help, and getting leather isn't hard at all

i guess the only reason to collect crabs at all is if you have no other alternative to bones or food
The sum of my experience is comprised up of more skeletons on my own claim then alot of you guys have wood blocks invested in your wall. But even though these skeles show i am a bad player- i still strive to continue through this vile territory in the hopes that one day i will have an army big enough to find you and murder all you know

Crab Roe gives good amounts of CON +2 FEPs, also.

I grab crabs when they're over q20, but forgot about the infected sore problem. Crabs are now pretty deadly whereas before they simply shut down your DEX forever, which was only a problem if you didn't plan your crafting around your crabbing.

I'd like to see Crabs' wounds nerf'd a little bit, or at least let us kill them like Hedgehogs or have a treatment option if the wounds are unavoidable.

TBH, crabs kinda suck anyway. They're not terrible, but I didn't really consider them worth the hassle before either. Now with crab caress being infectible, they're never worth touching.

I'd say they need a treatment that blocks infection before anyone should consider touching them.

Yarrow would be the best solution. Can't figure out why the Devs have yet to implement this. Now, more-so then ever because of the infected wounds. It's they want to kill off players who can't get chamomile...
