Detailed questions about combat

Postby _Gunnar » Fri Oct 06, 2017 10:24 pm

1.
In legacy, attackWeight = attackMult*skill, where skill = uac or mc

In w8, when I last played, for mc attacks attackWeight = sqrt(mc*Vit) where Vit was Vitality, one of the "tri-quality" things.

Now, mc attacks still say "According to weapon" in the weight formula. So is this still true? (but with the one-dimensional quality, of course)

2.
In legacy, comparisons of weights, etc, used to be based on the square root of the ratio of the attackWeight and defenseWeight

a) I remember that defenseWeight = manouverMult*skill, i.e. the 250% from Shield Up goes *inside* the square root - is this (still) correct?
b) I vaguely remember that at some point in w8 this was changed to be based on the cube root rather than the square root - is/was this right or was this reverted?

3.
Is Opp Knocks still a flat 40% opening? i.e. independent of uac/mc?

I may have more questions... messing around with different decks again.

This is quite interesting so here commes my guesses (in hope of that know how's do come in and correct me :p):

1. According to weapon seams to be somewhat correct. Given that full circle that seams to have mc*0.9 as weight doesnt make a 90% opening of what my stone axe q21 "according to weapon" seams to do.

2. A, at my 40 MC shield up seams to act like 100 weight when doing that math.
B, pretty sure it was not changed back, but cba to try on an alt :P

3. Opp Knock does not do a flat 40% but rather seams to use a delta of yours/opponents stats. Could only try it on a bear tho and god knows what stats they have :p O.K. did add about 10%. Altho at higher oppening it gave like 15.. so might have something to do with oppening size as well?

Yes, UA and MC don't matter for op knocks.

Yes, higher openings increases the effects of op knocks, as it increases it by a percentage.

idk about the formulas, I usually forget them and never write down the specifics.

#3:
Opportunity knocks increases current highest opening by 40%*(1+0.1*level_of_skill).

Example: If you have lvl 5 opp knocks, and you knock on an opponent with 60 yellow opening and 30 green opening, he will have 96 yellow opening and 30 green opening.

Code: Select all
HighestOpening * (1+0.4*(1+0.1*LevelSkill)) = NewOpening
(60*(1+.4*(1+0.5))) = 96

Not sure about question #1 or #2. I can't find anything about it being changed to cube root.

WRONG.. try having shit ton of mc and no ua and go toe to toe with a person with a shit ton of ua and no mc, try using Oppt klnocks on them regardless if you have more mc than their ua or anything Oppt knocks will be shit.. As read in description attack weight is determined by delta UA for oppt knocks. thats why you see the little fist for attack weight.

No. Everything in your post is wrong. Test things before you say stuff.

Regarding your question #1:

jorb wrote:Weapon quality no longer affects effective agility or attack weight when using melee weapons, but rather only the damage.

Not sure if the weapon type affects anything. Needs some testing.
