I just installed the latest java, so thats not the issue. If someone could help me out that would be appreciated, as i dont want to throw this new laptop away.
also i should mention using a different client is not an option that I have

Thanks

I dont see what else you could do with it - yes.

Of course this assumes that you have java installed.

In order to do that, you have to be in the same directory as the Jar file you're trying to use.

cd ~/Desktop/haven<TAB>
java -jar Pasta-Launcher.jar

This can be done from anywhere. Alternatively just "java -jar ~/Desktop/haven<TAB>/Pasta-Launcher.jar", but shubla will have to answer for whether he's written the launcher so as to be CWD-agnostic.

<TAB> here stands for typing the Tab key in order to auto-complete the directory name.

In some environments such as in gnome 3 you can right click the folder that you are in and choose "open terminal in this location" or such.
I personally use cd to go to the right folder and then launch the launcher with the command mentioned above.
If you want something that you can just click, you should get familiar with .desktop files, I think that the distribution that you are using supports them.
