Do grown roosters lose quality?

Postby pawnchito » Fri Sep 14, 2018 3:57 pm

Been trying my hand at chicken farming and I seem to have an issue getting grown chickens losing quality. No one else has access to my town so I don't think people are moving them. They are fully grown roosters I place them in the coop at night and when i return they've lost at least 1 q point. Is this a thing due to food and water? I thought once they were grown they didn't continue to lose q.

Give them food+water of higher quality than the chickens are.

So the chicks start off as 135, they grow into 135 roosters. They are moved into a new coop with pretty ladies and then left overnight. In the morning i check for eggs and notice they are now 134.

Using 50 water and 220 ~ feed.

My swill is at 216. Shouldn't they still continue to grow and not plateau?

There is some randomness to quality. You're going to go up or down in any one random chance, but over time, quality will increase. Just cull out those with lower quality and let the higher quality ones hatch, then replace hens and rooster. Repeat.

I'm not sure how water quality exactly affects chickens, but I've been giving mine q10 water and q650+ swill and they've stayed above q300.

Yeah no I get the + or - on randomness for breeding. My question is do roosters and chickens lose quality somehow during their adult life cycle.

I'm placing a single 135 rooster in a coop with only hens. Usually I do this in the evening. When I check on them the next morning. I have some eggs the hens and rooster there but now the rooster is 134. How?

Nice. What level feed are you giving them?

(FeedQ + WaterQ) / 2 is (probably) the maximum on how high your chicken Q can go before they slowly start plummeting, make sure to check and if required, drain the entire water before you replace it.
Our village also ran into this because someone accidentally right clicked a coop with their q10 water filled waterskin, causing us to believe that one of our chicken coops was bugged.

Sorry. I completely misread the question.
