I'd agree with you if it weren't for the fact that yeomanry is so easy to get now, you can rush it so fast and then stick up a claim in no time at all so the 8 hours barely matters (assuming you're playing like a savage, like most of us)

The downside to this is getting your claim nuked.... twice now.
The point of this rule is to prevent players from using claims offensively without a defender having a chance to remove them. Of course, the same people pull all kinds of other crap to prevent theirs being attacked.
