Protecting Claim

Anyone have tips for protecting claim while it's inactive for those 8 hrs? Roundpole fence seems weak but is there a easier way to guard it?

Tbh if someone bashes it down you're probably in a shit neighborhood and don't want to stick around.
I just leave it and whatever happens happens.

As a follow up to this, if the claim gets destroyed and I rebuild it, does it cost me 4000 lp or it's free as long as I have no active claim?

Very much this. I've lost two myself. And all I wanted to do was put down roots long enough to make a pair of bunny slippers!!

how do u kow when the claim is active?

Had all my stuff stolen the moment I logged off...though I have all hides in my inventory, but would be nice to dry them without them being 'borrowed'

you can inspect the claim or the totem to see how much drying time it has left.
or atlest i think that's how it worked.

put your claim inside a cave. much safer.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the claim works as soon as it's built, right? the 8 hour drying period is just to allow those who wish to bash the claim to ability to do so without having to immediately deal with shields?

another tip: be sure to set disable all permissions for white (unknown) players. I've had the opportunity to romp over some claims without buying any crime skills because of this. (i'm 90% sure this was the case, and it wasnt due to claim poles drying)

In case it works like in the worlds prior: the claim will need 8h to settly and will only start to project presence (=enforcing permissions) when the owner character interacts with it after it has settled.

IIRC this was introduced to reduce dropping claims left and right, as now you'll at least have to come back once to the place.
