What is the easiest way to get wax?

Found a ore vein on the overworld with rust root. I need to build a minehole down but the only thing stopping me is I dont have wax for hardened leather. Is there another way to get to my ore or is minehole the easiest way? How do I get wax the easiest?

Surface minehole leads to same level as cave entrance. You can use nearby cave or search for ore that is close to existing cave tunnel.

Candleberry probably. Or build beeskep and wait.

Candleberry is easiest, but not as common as beehives, though it takes 10 honeycomb to make 1 beeswax, and bees can be dangerous.

Another option is to go into the cave level and match up the prospect location vs underground tunnels. I've found many veins that way although it's a bit tricky.
