Use of melee combat?

Postby somesoyboy » Tue Mar 12, 2019 7:19 pm

Hello.

What is the use of melee combat (MC)? In the skill description for the attacks that use weapon, it describes the attack weight according to the weapon. Then what is melee combat used for? parry and shield up only?

Take quick barrage for example; how does MC impact the use of this attack? Would a UA pure use the skill as effectively and quickly as someone with pure or mixed MC?

Parry and Shield Up are the two maneuvers. Combat actions, both attacks and defense, use the skill indicated in the description to determine the attack and defense weight. Look for the sword and shield icon instead of the fist.

No, damage scales with the size of the opening, quality of weapon, and strength of the wielder.

edit: in other words, you could have 100 UA and 1 MC. If you make a opening of 100 with UA, you can hit for full damage with chop.

Full circle seems to be my only attack that has the Melee Combat icon indicated in the description, nearly all others have the "weighted my weapon" description. Does this mean that quick barrage and cleave (for example) aren't at all impacted by MC level?

Melee weapon weight should have sword and shield icon. This would mean that MC is what will decide openings when using these weapons with attacks that are ''weighted by weapon.''

You say melee weapon weight should have sword and shield icon, but this doesn't seem to be the case for Quick barrage and pretty much all other weapon-weighted attacks.

There is no sword and shield icon.

I have only 3 maneuvers, and 1 attack with sword and shield icon. And that is full circle. Are these the only attacks impacted by MC?

descriptions have been messed up for a while now
all attacks that need a weapon use MC as their weight all attacks you can use with fists are weighted by UA

Thank you! Nice to get confirmation on this.

Out of curiosity, what do most high-end PVPers and hunters use?

Mix, Pure UA, Pure MC?
