Nodes are hidden, so you need to basically mine randomly until you find a gem. Finding a gem means you found a node, they're like quality nodes and roughly circular. I've been told that gems get more common the deeper you go, but the densest node I've heard people mining was on L1. Probably has a density value that tends to go up the deeper you go, but ultimately you can still find good stuff on the upper levels if lucky.

Honestly the gem credo is only easy to do if you have done a lot of mining and mapped out many gem nodes. Without that you're in for some pain.

I'd probably mine tunnels over rooms. They're useful for prospecting, you can find ore nodes that way, etc. Once you find a gem of any kind though, mark that as a node and start mining a room at that spot to find more.

How big? I've mined out most of a stone column's area on L2 and only got the 1 gem after finding one trying to prospect for L3 ore. I'm saving the other spots I've marked for gem hunter.

i've found 3 gems L1/L2 this world so far that have only spit out one gem each. :( Bad luck I guess. At least I'm not stuck with all tin when mining.

The amount of mining to find gems nodes could be best quantified as "industrial" tbh. The nodes aren't super uncommon, but it's really hard to see them if you're not doing a village amount of mining with a dedicated character.

uhm, how does these nodes exactly work?
If i find some diamonds in an Area on L2 i can find more in that are.
But can i also find some on the same spot in L1 and L3?
You know what i mean? ;)

There's an invisible circle somewhere on L2 that you mined part of to get that diamond. Maybe you got one on the edge, maybe you'd tunneled to the center before finding one. It's like ore though, it doesn't extend up or down to other levels.

Nice btw, Diamonds, rubies, jade seem to be the best ones :)
