How fast do players progress?

Noob here, started playing when world 12 came out. Were playing all day for 6 days and then got killed by 3 dudes in full armor with metal weapons on my own territory. I want to give this game another shot but i was wondering if this kind of stuff is common and people usually progress this fast. Day 6 and those guys had tresspasing/rage/vandalism/theft/murder and great equipment. Were I just unlucky?

Most people progress slower, there is handful of people who progress really fast and start killing other people, whether you get killed or not depends a lot on your luck. So you probably were just unlucky.
Getting stake claim and palisade up as soon as possible is very important though, and it is normal to get these in the first days.

The beginning of the world can be very deadly since you won't have a wall, it's very important to rush a claim and a wall as early as possible, which isn't the most obvious or quickest thing for a new player, since your hides can/will be stolen early on, so you need the claim to dry so you don't get your hides stolen, but your claim may be bashed before then if you're not around the whole 8 hours...

Early world is a lot of fun, but also very scary and risky, I would say give it another shot

And yes, it's not uncommon that some players will have all of those things within the first 6 days of the world (it takes 5 days to make coal/metal, so you will see it by day 5 or 6) and it's not super uncommon for more experienced players to have 400k+ LP by day 4-6

I would guess most active hermit players that know what they're doing have about 500k-750kP at this point.

For the competitive players with large groups supporting them and feeding their fighters, it's probably about double that if not more.


Tips for starting:

Get a client. I know Ambers client allows you to toggle your minimap on for all types of boulder/trees/bushes. You can toggle them off as you discover their seeds/bark/wood etc - this will net you an easy like 5-10k LP in the first hour or so

Use that LP to get up to 10 survival and exploration (in increments of 5) unlock everything up to Yeomanry, rope making and skills needed for tanning

Place your claim down and DO NOT TERRAFORM/BUILD ANYTHING THAT WILL SHOW UP ON THE MAP. Do that after the claim has settled. - This will reduce the chances of someone stumbling onto your claim and bashing it.

Find a den of some type to hide your unclaimed stuff. The majority of people don't ever check them.

One of the biggest things that is overlooked by noobs is the study desk. You should rush one of these after your claim has been made and you're waiting for it to become active. This thing will allow your character to continuously progress while you're offline (LP Wise)

I would guess most active hermit players that know what they're doing have about 500k-750kP at this point.

Can confirm, currently at 596k LP total, had less time than usual to play on opening weekend and got hit by corona the two days after that (still showing some symptoms but fever went away after Tuesday, only coming back for a bit on Friday). If the world launched on a different weekend and I didn't lose a bunch of time to corona I'd be notably higher than that even.

You where unlucky to spawn/stay in an area where a larger group (15-20 ppl) that is experienced, most play most of the time or even 24/7 and are used to scripts (bots) got their hq and spread out "to have fun" or even dominate ... you can't stand a chance against ...
i came across assault scents on day 2, murder i've seen different last days ...

I'd just move or spawn new char somewhere in the wild ... maybe you'll find a nice area with good friendly cooperative neighbours like mine ...
