How much stats do I need to tame a horse?

So I've just tried to tame a horse and it went poorly, the beast kicked my ass
I had Badger Hide Vest, Leather pants and boots, Shield, boar tusk helmet. All in all about 15/21 armour, 42 str, 32 agi and 23 UC. And it wasn't enough. I just couldn't get the horses openings above 50-60.
How much do I need to take it in a fair 1-1 fight?

100 mc and 50 combat stats
use shield up and quick barrage

I am able to tame a horse using bronze armour and sword + shield with 65mc, 65 str and 50 agi using just sideswipe

50-60 openings is plenty for a damaging move like sideswipe or full circle with a sword (you don't need mc for sword moves if you open with unarmed).

if you don't use a sword you'll be there forever and need many more stats.

Always. And as always, you just have to be careful with how hard you hit with weapons as you do risk outright killing the animal.

If you hit it too hard you can also go past the "tame" threshold. The animal will fight to the death once its hp is low enough.

Something like between 70-85% hp gone is the tame threshold (at a guess).

you can tame it easily with 2 characters (or a friend). maybe like 40 ua each and armour and just punch? its way easier if u dont have the stats

If you've got a friend, have them shoot it with a couple of arrows, and finish it up with your attacks. It might take some trial and error to figure out the right number, but it makes it so you can do it with barely any stats.

Just keep an eye on the opening and total damage and damage dealt with every hit.
U should be able to figure out how big hits u can afford to do.
