Stop turning, right click the meat, and select Carve.

it's more like 1-2 minutes to cook stuff on it (only tested chicken and rabbit). But cooking on it means you lose the bone material, and gain 1 extra meat. Also the meat is spitroasted, which seems to give it an extra stat it can increase.

Fireplaces also make food better (sizzling), not sure what the exact effects of this are, seems to be more energy gained back. Using a fireplace + spitroast gives you sizzling spitroast meat.

It only takes a minute or two if you actively turn it.

I'm quite confused. My friend and I took turns turning the roasting spit for 5-10 minutes each and yet option to Carve never appeared, so we just left it there and it took no less than an hour for meat to get cooked. Might the cook time differ depending on the meat you are roasting? Or even wood used as a fuel in campfire?

Edit: Never mind, tried it just now, and the meat got indeed cooked after a couple of minutes of turning. Was it patched or something?

I just timed it, and it took me 3:30 with full heat to roast a chicken. Abilities may/probably affect this.

when you use a roasting spit. make sure you have the spit up, THEN light the fire.
if you put a spit on a fire that is lit, your food will take ages(if ever) to be ready.

I've spinned the spit for an hour and half last night before I gave up it was about 1/3 time left.

The fire has two bars: fuel and - i guess - heat.

The second seems to be used to determine if you can restart the fire, maybe it has also to do with how long the meat takes on the spitroast?
