To be fair, bats right now are pretty manageable if you know how they work.

Isnt it the opposite, though?
Blunt weapons work best against armoured opponents. Most metal armors couldn't be sliced or pierces by swords, so they were simply bashed in, crushing whoever is inside that armor, or atleast severly limiting his mobility by denting it inwards real good.

It's not the opposite. Go and hit your thumb with a hammer really hard and tell me it doesn't cause severe issues. Even better, have you ever seen an image of a guy that had a hammer dropped on his head when his hard hat blew off in the wind? (There's some grizzly workplace disaster images around.) If hammers are good against armored targets, they're even better vs unarmored. They may not sever limbs or slash open throats, but they'll give you such a concussion you'll drop dead on the spot. Or crush a larynx and you'll suffocate in a few minutes. or cause such massive internal bleeding you'll die in a few hours without modern medicine and surgery.

if we are talking medieval europe, nobody was trying to kill anyone in plate armour anyway. they'd bash em to the ground and hold them randsom. but anyway history not really relevant to haven.

cloudjhi's logic is correct, fleixbile armours like chain/leather do next to nothing vs a hammer blow. but then using same real world logic: fists would do nothing vs metal armour except break your hands. so again logic has little to do with haven, no?

so in short give different types of weapons benefits depending on what you are attacking... fire should scare or weaken animals piercing=bleed blunt damage = greater armor wear damage etc

I would guess this goes the other way around too, but at least one would have the ability to adjust the location of the lightsource to the own liking.

Not so much for the light quality of it, but for the space it takes up. when you thrust it in their face they will be unable to see how you are moving for that moment. As the wielder this won't present the same problem to yourself.

Ofcourse when it suddenly goes out you will both have nightblindness
