If raiders get master keys they can scramble all your locks. Furthermore, without an ability to teleport out, they can rebuild the walls and entomb you inside if they so choose.

The getting locked inside is mostly an issue for noobs with low STR and a palisade, but it's still an issue for some of the playerbase. And it griefs the base pretty badly for brick walls too.

Edit: Taking that back. Without village oathing, getting locked inside without ram materials (and raiders can ensure you don't have any of those) means you need to random port and walk a lot of hours unless you want to start from scratch. That's kinda harsh.

Alt vaults to the rescue!! No reason you can't have enough glue, rope, and leather around for a ram. If you have a truly productive base, you won't even need to keep the rope unless the raiders want to spend the time and HHP to harvest all your crops, kill your animals, and chop down and destroy all your trees, you should be able to get out.

Besides, if they want to lock you in, what's to stop them from ramming the gates in, building new ones, and putting locks of their own on?
