bee skep, wax?

I know that Hives dont increase the speed for Barley, but can Bee Hives produce wax from Barley?

If a plant never accesses the hive, it won't (shouldn't) add to the wax or honey production.

I've had trouble in the past few days producing wax too with two 16x16 fields.

hmm... my field of about 50 crops that trigger the hive produce wax on a regular basis, though it's not consistently several a day as I don't farm it enough.

so if I place too bee skeps next to each other, I assume they will both be able to produce wax? (I've got some wax since last time I wrote - and all is well with the world, but looking to up the production a bit)

Yes. For me usually both hive got wax at the same time. You need the field to support it though. If you lack the field you will gimp your wax production instead.

Do I need double the fields for 2 bee skeps? Or do they work with roughly the same area?

1 skep/so many crops. It really depends on which crop you have around them. read up on the current mechanics for details and an idea of where a decent ratio might apply.
