If i was you id pay them 5 wax a week to leave you alone. much more profitable for them. They might even provide protection from other villages also

If they'r already harassing you in some way, there's only one option for you: MOVE!
Choose a direction, fill in your inventory with the best curios you have on your containers, and walk this direction for some HOURS. Find a suitable place, and make a new claim (don't forget declaiming your last one), and start a new life!

Screw curios. Take seeds. A few clover, too, as you can never find one when you need it. Curios are easy to come by, but seeds are a pain in the ass. After that, a couple of metal bars if you have them, but better to have an open inventory for foraging for food and curios while you're wandering off.

Yeah, your only option is to move far away from said village. You're not going to win an outnumbered and outstatted fight no matter how good you are in combat.

If you're playing solo I suggest moving VERY far away such that there is a small chance of any raiders finding you, because if they do find you you won't be able to defend yourself sadly.

You can build a cart and fill it with 6 liftables. Sure its a little slower, and can't cross even shallow water, but on the upside a hermit can bring basically his whole base with him. If you have any alts, just make a conga line of followers, with the last guy pulling the cart.
You can simply avoid most waters, but if worst comes to worst you can just chop down a tree on the other side and make yourself another cart, then haul all items over.
Walk like this for ~5 hours, or until you no longer see settlements with any regularity. Then pick a nice flat spot, preferably near swamp/cave/mountain, make sure no one is nearby, and start rebuilding.
Also, its good to not build within a few map tiles of waterways. Any potential raiders will find you much more easily if you are. Make sure that, from the nearest waterway, the tile your base is in wont load. The distance isn't an issue; you can just build paths from your base to the water and quicktravel with a boat every time.
Hope it helps.
