I like a large base myself, I'm now making a hermitage something around 70x90 tiles.

You can keep most of the infrastructure in one part of the base and dedicate others to animal husbandry (both the animals and fields to feed them), a very large chunk to tree farming, excessive storage etc.

Even a very large base be efficient if you plan the layout properly. - for instance you don't really do much at the tree farm but you'll be spending a lot of time at at the building housing your food and in areas dedicated to food production so it's a good idea to keep them together

Kinda settling on a 28x33, it's totally flat. It seems a fine size, I've played the balls off previous H&Hs and Salem so I know how to make this space work

I run a 39x42, fits a mansion, a smal log house, a dozen trees, and everything a hermit needs.

i had a 60x70 plot in world 7 and a 50x75 plot now. it's adequate but still a very basic "one of each" kinda layout. i designed it during my journey from the spawn zone so i knew exactly what i needed, but you might want to go a little bigger than you need so you won't regret it later if you want to add stuff.

Because the crime system works different here, there's not much benefit stacking walls directly ontop of each other. The big effort in raiding is getting a ram dried and to the wall, after that a wall 1 tile in is literally just another 30 seconds of bashing and you're through.

For that reason, I'd say it honestly doesn't matter. So long as you have brick to stop palibashers come time, you're good.

i am running a 36-46 ish hermit place. i would look up the exact size but game time is used up after 1 of my neighbors gave me deer (thx falx).
i personally would say 50-50 is more than enough for casual even excessive.
I think 1 of every furnance and workstation is more then enough. important is to plan everything before yo ustart to place the unmovable things. you can raze down a kiln but a wall or log cabin is hard.

Grand lads thanks. I'll stretch out my lil land so and looking sleeping down a brick wall in the future. Won't stress about it now one the pali is up.

Last question, promise, does grass regrow over time after you dig?

Yeah, and is randomly regrown with the decay process. It can take a few days.

To note, my old hermitages were around 100 square to 150 square because of the threat of some random guy standing outside your walls and shooting you. (I got to the point where I farmed with plate armor on just to prevent this.) Now, that isn't an issue, and haven't settled on how big I want, but I'm still leaning towards a good 80x80, anyway. By the time you get a few animals in there and a decent sized farm to feed yourself and them and a variety of trees growing, you can eat up most if not all of that.

then again, you have to look at how much time you play each week. I was putting in 2-3 hours a day minimum at that time. Still casual compared to some, but more than you can do now without a sub.
