Also, items like feathers, tealeaves, dreams and similar could also be stackable as seeds. Having whole inventory to carry few mulberry leaves looks bad aswell.

What would be better? Infinite carrying capacity?

Now that I have to walk between places instead of teleport everywhere a weight based system seems better. Heck a hybrid system I can work with. Base inventory stays the same with backpack, sacks and merch robe but you get extra inventory with movement penalties unless mitigated by a combination of str constitution and inteligence. Say 1 extra row and column for each 40 90 160 etc average stats.

ex
-you have 10 str no extra inv gear you have a
4*4 =16 inventory slots with with normal speed.
5*5 =25 inventory slots with 25% reduced speed
6*6 =36 inventory slots with 50% reduced speed
7*7 =49 inventory slots with 75% reduced speed

-you have 90 str with leather backpack 2 sacks and merch robe you have
9*10 =90 inventory slots with normal speed
10*11=110 inventory slots with 25% reduced speed
11*12=132 inventory slots with 50% reduced speed
12*13 =156 inventory slots with 75% reduced speed

It gives reasons for high stat combat characters to perhaps sometimes be used instead of no value alts when items need moving putting them in danger.

Also maybe it's time for really big stationary containers.
Shelves in houses rather than the weird warehouse like structure we got now with cupboards everything with more storage space of course.
Sausage hangers takes a lot of sausage.
A new granary building that can take barrels (each barrel labeled with content type and quality). Lots of barrels.
New more expensive 1000L barrels takes a bit more space. Can be carried at half crawl speed can be lifted full in carts wagons or rafts. I'd say boats but only if we get ships.
A water tank/huge barrel. Stationary. Takes a loooooot of content. Loved the salem water tower.
Increase the pile sizes.
Outside sheds.
Etc.

Somewhat related. I tried playing the game on my old monitor and at 1024*768 resolution the inventory, equip window and a cupboard takes the whole screen and more. So this needs fixing for sure. Scalable interface.

You are such a larper

All items should stack up to a limit specific for each item. Normal right click interacts with the top item, some modifier hotkey plus rightclick opens the stack as a subinventory where you can interact with any individual item in the stack.

I only want stacks if we can retain the individual quality of items. No more of this averaging.

Personally I've always loved the system that Ultima Online used. A backpack that you can drag items around freely within, but individual items have weight. It only restricts you when the sum of the item weights are greater than your carrying capacity (which is based on your strength). It makes so much more sense than a simple tile-based system.

Many other games use a simple weight-capacity system for inventory, but only UO (afaik) have used a GUI backpack that you move items around in.

quality doesn't matter. this is straight from the dev's mouth. however, if the sacks are changed back to the way the were (was a change in w6, anyway), you'll be a step ahead.
