Deer require either high agi or pretty good armor. With high agi you spam one defense maybe zig zag punch and chop. With good armor you ignore the one defense and just spam punch and chop. Quite silly and binary to be honest.

Do you need to have red defense up for boars or is green/blue enough? (same question for taming them)

I think boars have a yellow ip attack like most animals do, so for fighting/taming them as per all animals I use quick dodge and jump (yellow & green defs). With boars if you break their tusk romp defense it will do a red attack, tusk romp is broken by your green or red attacks. You can just use left hook/low blow (blue attacks) to avoid breaking tusk romp, or be very careful when you punch/chop/khto :P. Taming boars is just spam left hook and refresh green/yellow defs when needed.

Are you sure it's green/yellow aside from tusk romp (which I guess you can just wait out)? I heard it was green/blue.

Just get high ua around 100 and not be scared of anything.
Also 50-50 agility would help.

I haven't been hit by boars whilst using only yellow/green during taming, and have two nice little piggies. It is highly unlikely that they have an attack that doesn't have a yellow or green component.

Bears running after I chop them twice or just throw punches only.

Do I need to count damage and chop after, making it enrage while on my chop CD? Because that would suck. Or do I just grab a row and track them after they run?

I´ve killed plenty of boars with 50 ua and i don´t use chop.
I just keep a blue, green and yellow defense up (just don´t use feigned dodge cause of tusk romp) and then I just spam left hook. That way I don´t have to worry about tusk rump (since it won´t trigger of blue and yellow attacks) and it´s really not hard chasing them down unless it´s a super fast boar. You could use haymaker as well, but I don´t think the extra damage outweighs the short cd of left hook.
I´m sure it´s faster with a decent sword but this method is just nice to start with since you can focus on keeping your defenses up and not worry about triggering tusk romp.
