a search in Google for "layer utility" trying "haven" and "hafen" resulted in this: https://github.com/boshaw/hafen-layer-util

I'll note that it is in LISP.

+1024 for lisp. orgasm'd out of all me orifices. twice.

Unfortunately, despite the name, the haven layers appear to be for legacy only, last updated 3 years ago.

Here's a list of of layers I've not found implemented in the hafen layer util you linked (presumably these are the new layers of hafen):

Code: Select all
audio2
boneoff
clamb
common
font
foodev
light
manim
mat
mat2
mesh
rlink
skan
skel
slink
tex
tileset2
vbuf
vbuf2

Before the world started I had a plan to add all the new hafen layers introduced, but then i got side tracked and never finished nor did i upload the progress. Eventually i'll fix it and redo the forum post explaining how to use the thing.

On a side note, you can use the 'salem' layers and it should decode all but:
Code: Select all
tileset2
vbuf2
mat2
foodev
manim
clamb

vbuf2/mat2/manim is where all the new model information is held.
tileset2 is just a new layer to replace the old tileset layer and hold information about flavor objects, transitions, etc.
foodev is just a tooltip info for fep bar.
and clamb is for ambiance audio.

If you want just the texture 'tex' layer in salem portion will do.

Based wizard.

I'll see if I can manage to write any lisp to help you out if I dare.

vbuf/mat use some weird 5 byte float format while vbuf2/mat2 use (standard?) floats.

Question though: on a quick read-through the layers for vbuf/mat, I can't see what the layers decode to. Is it a binary blob?

Yes, whatever format the Java standard goes by.

Both vbuf and mat decode into a text data file with the numbers in them. Ideally it should turn into a format that's loadable into something like blender, etc. No one really pushed for that in Salem so it was left as is.

I have all the templates for the new layers, and iirc the only thing i didn't do was implement the Java floats over the old 5-byte float and a new list-format. I'll get around to uploading the templates and what not later tonight.

Nice. Now I'm waiting for someone to make a building designer :p
