Bears are much more rare than other animals. So chacnes of you getting learning experience from them which is some other move tha nwhat you already have are quite small perhaps?

In my experience they aren't that rare, tbh :p - I find fewer deer.
Record day was something like 12 bears. And I haven't even received a repeat of another move from them.

I'm fighting bats every day, and I have not seen the 'Combat Discovery' move for a very long time..
Still missing some skills..

I have found that animals definitely effect what skills you get and I have found that bats give you hardly any of the moves you want. Ants seem to give majority of the skills you would want. Although I reckon with some of these bigger skills such as cleave, might be given from larger animals? Not sure.

but animals definitely matter, I'm pretty sure of it.

Well, the problem for me is not - not getting the moves i want - but first of all getting the 'Combat Discovery' move lol..
